This week we (reluctantly) welcomed about 8 inches of snow here in Harrisburg!
As a nurse I rarely get snow days. Hospitals are a 24/7 operation come hell or high water, or in this case, snow. Lucky for me I had the day off and could enjoy an old fashioned snow day with my husband. A Blackburn family tradition on days like this is making snow cream. And that we did!
Heard about from Jared's childhood memories but never experienced myself, I dove head first into making this icy treat. Turns out it's easy to make and delicious to eat! Here's the recipe straight from the family cookbook.
Ingredients:
1 cup milk or cream
1/3 cup sugar
Pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 cups fresh, clean snow
Directions:
Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl and whisk together. Add snow and fold together, the texture will be similar to soft serve ice cream.
My only disclaimer is to eat this treat FAST. It melts quickly!
Perfect for kids (and kids at heart) looking to sweeten up their snow day ❄️⛄️
